Part 4 – 1290 Days

11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away

and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days.

( Dan 12:11 Ampl)

3.5 Years - 1290 Days + One Leap Month added - Setting up the Abomination of Desolation

YHWH revealed another prophetic variation on the 1260 day or 3.5 year period. As we have mentioned earlier, the Hebrew beginning of the year is based on both the sun and the moon. If the barley harvest is not ripe after the 12th month is completed, then a 13th month is added to the year. Then a prophetic 3.5 year period can become 1290 prophetic days (1260 + 30 days). YHWH revealed to the prophet Daniel how long it would take to set up the abomination of desolation, as was prophesied: “11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. [Dan. 11:31.] (Dan 12:11 Ampl) YHWH revealed another very important counting, which starts from the moment the sacrifices are stopped, until the abomination of desolation is set up by the prince of the covenant.

Stopping or Oblation of sacrifices in Jerusalem

Looking from YHWH’s perspective, towards the past, how His times and season, had been fulfilled, we find that the sacrifices were stopped three times before:

Once during the reign of king Ahaz: 24 And Ahaz collected the utensils of the house of God and cut them in pieces; and he shut up the doors of the Lord's temple [ the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies ] and made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem. 25 In each city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, provoking to anger the Lord, the God of his fathers. (2Chron 28:24-25 Ampl)

Once during the Babylonian captivity: 15 And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them persistently by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. 16 But they kept mocking the messengers of God and despising His words and scoffing at His prophets till the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, till there was no remedy or healing. 17 Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or hoary-headed; He gave them all into his hand. 18 And all the vessels of the house of God , great and small, and the treasures of the Lord's house, of the king, and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon. 19 And they burned God's house and broke down Jerusalem's wall and burned all its palaces with fire and destroyed all its choice vessels. (2Chron 36:15-19 Ampl) They completely broke down the temple of YHWH. Later the destruction of the first temple was confirmed, before the rebuilding of the second temple: “From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, but the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.”(Ezra 3:6 Ampl)

Lastly, the temple sacrifices were also stopped once, about four hundred years after Daniel, by the Greek king, Antiochus Epiphanies, desecrating the temple.

The question is which oblation of sacrifices could the prophecy be referring too and when were the sacrifices finally, completely abolished or stopped? The prophecy refers to both these times, both in the past and the future, during the Babylonian captivity and the reign of Antiochus Epiphanes. Yet, the prophecy also prophetically refers to another time in the future, when it will reach its final fulfilment.

The Oblation of Sacrifices by Nebuchadnezzar (583 BC)

According to the prophecy to Daniel, the prince, in this case, Nebuchadnezzar, would make a strong agreement with Israel, allowing them to keep ruling in their own country, if they kept his prerequisites, as was prophesied: “But any nation that brings its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serves him, that nation will I let remain on its own land, says the Lord, to cultivate it and dwell in it.” (Jer 27:11 Ampl)

Unfortunately, they did not obey YHWH and the word, which He had sent them by the mouth of His prophet Jeremiah. The word to Jeremiah finally came true, as was prophesied:” 19 For thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the [bronze] pillars [each twenty-seven feet high], the [bronze] Sea [the laver at which the priests cleansed their hands and feet before ministering at the altar], the [bronze] bases [of the ten lavers in Solomon's temple used forwashing animals to be offered as sacrifices ], and the remainder of the vessels which are left in this city Jerusalem, [I Kings 7:23-37; II Chron. 4:6; Jer. 52:17.] 20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon Jeconiah, also called Coniah and Jehoiachin, son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem 21 Yes, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels which still remain in the house of the Lord , in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem: 22 They will be carried to Babylon and there will they be until the day that I visit them with My favor, says the Lord. Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place. (Jer 27:19-22 Ampl)

According to history, the city of Jerusalem was besieged and taken in 586BC, but the temple sacrifices continued past the first time the first vessels of the temple were taken. This can be proven by the recording of the prophet Jeremiah, saying: 5 There came eighty men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, having their beards shaved off and their clothes torn and having cut themselves, bringing cereal offerings and incense, going up to Jerusalem to present them in the house of the Lord.(Jer 41:5 Ampl) These 8 men came to the temple, at the end of the governorship of Gedaliah, which was about seven to ten months after the temple was burned down. Thus, there had to be some purified priests in Jerusalem who were still carrying on with the temple sacrifices. Two more years pass, Jeremiah recorded: 29 In the 18 th year of Nebuchadrezzar, he carried away captive from Jerusalem 832 persons; 30 In the 23rd year of Nebuchadrezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the Babylonian guard carried away captive of the Jews 745 persons. All the persons were 4,600. (Jer 52:29 Ampl) Nebuchadnezzar ascended the throne of Babylon in 606-605BC. Twice he came and carried more people of Judah into captivity: In his 18th year and finally, in his 23rd year. Twenty-three years later, from the reign of Nebuchadnezzar is 583-582BC, when the army of Babylon, came into Jerusalem and took captive the last of the remaining people in Jerusalem, completely stopping the sacrifices.

Therefore, YHWH revealed to Daniel that Nebuchadnezzar would break the agreement, because of Israel defecting to Egypt, returning about one year later to destroy Jerusalem and the temple. Yet according to Jeremiah the temple sacrifices continued past the destruction of the temple for about another 3.5 years, after which, Nebuchadnezzar took the rest of the people, including the priests into captivity, completely stopping the sacrifices. He came into Israel the first time to make an agreement with Israel, installing a vassal king, as was prophesied: 27 And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week seven years. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease; (Dan 9:27 Ampl)

When we understand that YHWH’s ‘times and seasons’ point not only to the future, but also to the past, then we can understand that this prophecy also refers to the time when Nebuchadnezzar stopped the sacrifices in 583BC, when he finally took all of Israel into captivity, to Babylon.

In order to begin to understand the mystery of the interpretation of the prophecy, to Daniel, correctly, saying: “11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. (Dan 12:11 Ampl) We must first look at the history of the destruction of the temple, only then will the future of the Third temple be unlocked.

1290 Prophetic years 583 BC-688AD Using the ‘day-for-a-year’ principle, we now count from 583BC 1290 prophetic years (1271.5 years), we, astonishingly arrive at 688 AD, the time when the building of ‘Dome of the rock’ commenced on the temple site, in order to prevent the temple from being rebuilt again. Thus, on this prophetic level, the ‘Dome of the rock’ is the ‘abomination that causes desolation.’ Prophetically, identifying the reason why Israel will in the future be attacked by all the Muslim nations all around.

When the Lord led me to this discovery, which was made by Herbert Armstrong, I was very excited. Unfortunately, Herbert Armstrong was only called for a certain time and purpose, and was not a prophet, but a diligent teacher. Only until, he, of whom it was prophesied, destined to unseal these things, restoring all things, came, could these things be understood in its fullness. And not until the time comes, as was prophesied: seal up vision and prophecy and prophet,” will all prophesies be fully understood.

The Oblation of Sacrifices by Antiochus Epiphanes (167 BC)

As we have seen, the prophetic word to a prophet is on different prophetic levels, which, like cogs, fitt into one another like gears. Although the king of Babylon did stop the sacrifices in 583BC, according to history, another king, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, also stopped the sacrifices 400 years later, also partially fulfilling prophecy.

Antiochus Epiphanes IV

Antiochus IV Epiphanes ('God Manifest'; [1] born 215 BC; died 163 BC) ruled the Seleucid Empire from 175 BC until his death in 163 BC. He was a son of King Antiochus III the Great and the brother of Seleucus IV Philopator. His original name was Mithridates; he assumed the name Antiochus after he assumed the throne.

Notable events during the reign of Antiochus IV include his near-conquest of Egypt, which led to a confrontation that became an origin of the metaphorical phrase, "line in the sand", and the rebellion of the Jewish Maccabees.

He assumed divine epithets, which no other Hellenistic king had done, such as 'manifest god' and after his defeat of Egypt, 'bringer of victory'. [2] But his often eccentric behavior, capricious actions and even insanity led some of his contemporaries to call him Epimanes ("The Mad One"), a word play on his title Epiphanes. [1] [3]

Rise to Power

As the son and a potential successor of King Antiochus III, Antiochus became a political hostage of the Roman Republic following the Peace of Apamea in 188 BC. When his older brother, Seleucus IV followed his father onto the throne in 187 BC, Antiochus was exchanged for his nephew Demetrius I Soter (the son and heir of Seleucus). After King Seleucus was assassinated by Heliodorus, an usurper, in 175 BC, Antiochus in turn ousted him. Since Seleucus' legitimate heir, Demetrius I Soter, was still a hostage in Rome, Antiochus, with the help of King Eumenes II of Pergamum, seized the throne for himself, proclaiming himself co-regent for another son of Seleucus, an infant named Antiochus (whom he then murdered a few years later). Sacking of Jerusalem and Persecution of Jews

220px-Antiochus_IV_Epiphanes_Morkholm_14

While Antiochus was busy in Egypt, a rumor spread that he had been killed. The deposed High Priest Jason gathered a force of 1,000 soldiers and made a surprise attack on the city of Jerusalem. The High Priest appointed by Antiochus, Menelaus, was forced to flee Jerusalem during a riot. On the King's return from Egypt in 167 BC enraged by his defeat, he attacked Jerusalem and restored Menelaus, then executed many Jews. [6]

When these happenings were reported to the king, he thought that Judea was in revolt. Raging like a wild animal, he set out from Egypt and took Jerusalem by storm. He ordered his soldiers to cut down without mercy those whom they met and to slay those who took refuge in their houses. There was a massacre of young and old, a killing of women and children, a slaughter of virgins and infants. In the space of three days, eighty thousand were lost, forty thousand meeting a violent death, and the same number being sold into slavery. — 2 Maccabees 5:11-14

To consolidate his empire and strengthen his hold over the region, Antiochus decided to side with the Hellenized Jews by outlawing Jewish religious rites and traditions kept by observant Jews and by ordering the worship of Zeus as the supreme god. This was anathema to the Jews and when they refused, Antiochus sent an army to enforce his decree. Because of the resistance, the city was destroyed, many were slaughtered, and a military Greek citadel called the Acra was established. [7]

Not long after this the king sent an Athenian senator to force the Jews to abandon the customs of their ancestors and live no longer by the laws of God; also to profane the temple in Jerusalem and dedicate it to Olympian Zeus, and that on Mount Gerizim to Zeus the Hospitable, as the inhabitants of the place requested...They also brought into the temple things that were forbidden, so that the altar was covered with abominable offerings prohibited by the laws. A man could not keep the Sabbath or celebrate the traditional feasts, nor even admit that he was a Jew. At the suggestion of the citizens of Ptolemais, a decree was issued ordering the neighbouring Greek cities to act in the same way against the Jews: oblige them to partake of the sacrifices, and put to death those who would not consent to adopt the customs of the Greeks. It was obvious, therefore, that disaster impended. Thus, two women who were arrested for having circumcised their children were publicly paraded about the city with their babies hanging at their breasts and then thrown down from the top of the city wall. Others, who had assembled in nearby caves to observe the Sabbath in secret, were betrayed to Philip and all burned to death. — 2 Maccabees 6:1-11

Wikipedia: Antiochus IV Epiphanes

Antiochus IV Epiphanes partially fulfilled the prophecy, by stopping the sacrifices and by setting up an “abomination that makes desolate”. As soon as Antiochus, who proclaimed himself as God, took Jerusalem, he order the outlawing Jewish religious rites and traditions kept by observant Jews and by ordering the worship of Zeus, as the supreme god, he desecrated the temple. Although this history does not perfectly fit all the prophetic events, yet it is a very close representation of the prophecy, which came 363 years before, through the prophet Daniel. What is very significant, which we have seen already, was that exactly 280 years or (4 x 70 years) after King Artaxerxes I gave the command, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, starts his reign of rulership. This was exactly, one week of forty years each (7 X 40 years), later, when Antiochus arose as ‘another prince,’ to oppress the Jewish people in Jerusalem, as was prophesied: 31 And armed forces of his shall appear in the holy land and they shall pollute the sanctuary, the spiritual stronghold, and shall take away the continual, daily burnt offering; and they shall set up, in the sanctuary, the abomination that astonishes and makes desolate [probably an altar to a pagan god]. (Dan 11:31 Ampl)

Only after I found the work and research, which Herbert Armstrong discovered, did I more fully start to understand the prophetic events in the last days. Only then did I understand the word of YHWH to the prophet Daniel, saying: 11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. (Dan 12:11 Ampl)

Yahshua revealed to the apostle John, how the Israelites would be in the wilderness for a period of 1260 days or 1260 years, as was prophesied: 5 And she brought forth a male Child, One Who is destined to shepherd (rule) all the nations with an iron staff (scepter), and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne. [Ps. 2:8, 9; 110:1, 2.] 6 And the woman herself fled into the desert or wilderness, where she has a retreat prepared for her by God, in which she is to be fed and kept safe for 1,260 days (42 months; three and one-half years). (Rev 12:5-6 Ampl) Yahshua came as a male child to be the Saviour of both the Jews and the gentiles. The Jews rejected Him and were blinded, in part, until the time of the gentiles had been completed. After the Jews rejected Yahshua, they were cast into the wilderness or desert, just like the children of Israel was, in the time of Moses, for a period of 40 years or 40 Jubilees (40 X 49 = 1960 years)

During the year 2009, Yahshua granted me a vision, which explains the period between the times Israel rejected their Messiah, Yahshua, the first time and the time when the third temple will be built. In a vision, as I looked up, I saw the cross of Yahshua standing towards the left-hand of a large and extended arid desert. As I glanced through time, towards the right-hand, I saw a golden temple standing. Suddenly, I knew in my spirit that it was prophesied that Israel would be cast into the desert until the building of the Third temple.

According to that which Yahshua had revealed to John, He would keep them save and would protect a small remnant of them, so that they would pass through these terrible times in history, protecting them on eagles wings, for a period of 1260 years. Counting 1260 years, without converting to Hebrew years, from the time when the ‘Dome of the rock’ was built, we arrive at the birth of Israel in 1948!!!

Diagram_cross_third_temple

Diagram_Dome_of_the_rock_Israel_state_688 AD-1948 AD

This is awesome proof of the ‘times and seasons’ of YHWH, through which, He foreknew the future of the Israelites and the coming of the Messiah.
